The Difference Between Winning and Losing

The Difference Between Winning and Losing
By Catherine Pulsifer
Hanging on, persevering, WINNING
Letting go, giving up easily, LOSING
Accepting responsibility for your actions, WINNING
Always having an excuse for your actions, LOSING
Taking the initiative, WINNING
Waiting to be told what to do, LOSING
Knowing what you want and setting goals to achieve it, WINNING
Wishing for things, but taking no action, LOSING
Seeing the big picture, and setting your goals accordingly, WINNING
Seeing only where you are today, LOSING
Being determined, unwilling to give up WINNING
Gives up easily, LOSING
Having focus, staying on track, WINNING
Allowing minor distractions to side track them, LOSING
Having a positive attitude, WINNING
having a "poor me" attitude, LOSING
Adopt a WINNING attitude!
My thoughts,

A MOTHERS LOVE

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: Rs. 5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: Rs. 1.00
For going to the store for you: Rs.50
Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: 0.25p
Taking out the garbage: Rs.1.00
For getting a good report card: Rs.5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: Rs. 2.00
Total owed: Rs. 14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me:
No Charge

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you:
No Charge

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years:
No Charge

For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead:
No Charge

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose:
No Charge

Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is:
No Charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, "Mom, I sure do love you." And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: "PAID IN FULL".

Lessons to be learnt:

* You will never how much your parents worth till you become a parent
*Be a giver not an asker, especially with your parents. there is a lot to give, besides money.

Make a Difference

A man was walking down a deserted Mexican beach at sunset. As he walked along he began to see another man in the distance.

As he grew nearer he noticed that the local native kept leaning down, picking something up, and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things out into the ocean.

As our friend approached even closer he noticed that the man was picking up starfish that had washed up onto the beach, and one at a time, he was throwing them back into the ocean.

The first man was puzzled. He approached the man and said, "Good Evening Friend, I was wondering what are you doing?" And he replied, "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide right now and all these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back into the sea, they will die from the lack of oxygen."

"I understand," my friend replied "but there must be thousands of starfish on this beach and you couldn't possibly get to all of them. There are simply too many and don't you realize that this is happening on hundreds of beaches up and down this coast ... can't you see that that you can't possibly make a difference?

The local native smiled, bent down, picked up yet another starfish ... and as he threw it back out into the sea, he replied, "It made a difference to that one!"

You may feel like you cannot make a difference in the world today, but you CAN make a difference in one life at a time.

Lessons to be learnt :

* Never underestimate your own efforts. You too could make a difference.
* Don't ask what the world could do for you, seek what you could do to the world.

LEADERSHIP

Leadership is the ability to influence a group towards achievement of goal. Developing leadership skills is a long process. Leadership is also a set of behavior as much as a skill. Hence its possible to learn leadership skills.

1. Integrity--Leaders have high ethics. Leaders take personal responsibility for their team’s actions and results.

2. Passionate--Leaders are passionate. They are enthusiastic about their work and they even have the ability to rub this energy off on their followers.

3. Commitment- Leaders work hard and have a strong discipline in following through with their work.

4. Courageous-Leaders are brave when they confront risks and the unknown. The ultimate test of a leader’s courage is also the courage to be open.

5. Goal Oriented -Leaders are very focused on the objectives that need to be attained. They develop a plan and strategy to achieve the objectives. In addition, they will also need to build commitment from the team and rally them to achieve the organization’s goal.

6. Developing People-- Leaders develop the people to build a stronger team so that the organization is effective. Good leaders start by developing their own knowledge when developing leadership skills. No one can achieve goals alone.

7. Prioritize -Leaders do the most urgent and important things first regardless of their interest in them.
8. No Public Glory-Leaders understand that at best they will get private credit for their work. Public glory is not expected. They know whatever achievements are the result of joint effort of their units.

Holi--- The festival of colours...

Significance of Holi
The festival of Holi can be regarded as a celebration of the Colors of Unity & Brotherhood - an opportunity to forget all differences and indulge in unadulterated fun.It has traditionally been celebrated in high spirit without any distinction of cast, creed, color, race, status or sex. It is one occasion when sprinkling colored powder ('gulal') or colored water on each other breaks all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same and universal brotherhood is reaffirmed. This is one simple reason to participate in this colorful festival.

Holi is celebrated every year to remind people that those who love God shall be saved and they who torture the devotee of God shall be reduced to ashes a la the mythical character Holika...

Today the 1st March 2010 is the festival of colours...this year holi has been very special as for the first time my daughter Arushi has played holi with her dad and some children... it was amazing to see her enjoy the festival of colour, sprinkle gulal, play with water and color, the excitement in her eyes was unforgetable.. un imaginable so innocent.. This reminded me of my child hood days where i and my sister would go out and play colours along with our friends in the locality...it would be too muchfun... I did not have the chance to play as I had to rush to office... that's what made me little upset...but that did not take away from me the fulfillment of seeing arushi my daghter enjoy the festival with full pomp..
I wish that we soon forget all the differences and spread the message of peace and prosperity inspite of our colour, creed, religion..
